Services
We are a small crew of scientists and engineers with over 60 years combined experience in research, educational, and industrial settings. Our company name, derived from the infamous equation marrying ray and wave optics, represents everything we aspire to as a company: to forge new connections even when it's painful and to build new tools when those existing are insufficient.
We would be delighted to bring our diverse backgrounds and this "Eikonic" ethos to your custom project. Our experience includes:
- Low-noise analog circuit design and analysis
- Opto-electronics design, testing and fabrication
- Optical system design and integration
- Custom scientific instrument design
- Professional development, education and technical documentation
We are aware of the huge engineering investment required to develop novel technologies and familiar with the challenges of characterizing and explaining new ideas to facilitate widespread adoption. If you are interested in partnering with us during any stage of that process, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Example Projects & Costs
As a small private company with minimal administrative overhead we are flexible to tackle a wide range of project sizes and can provide personalized support and rapid turnaround. If you would like to get to know us, here are examples of some projects we've recently worked on as a vehicle for establishing our relationship with new customers.
- Proposal Review. Provided evaluation and ranking of three $200k+ 80-page design studies for space instrumentation. Assessed technical merit, risk, budget & schedule for client. Deliverables included a 5-page report and participation in two panel discussions. Project duration: 4 weeks. Cost: $6500.
- Design, Prototype Testing, & Construction of Novel Test Gear. Designed, tested and built a high-energy nanosecond pulsed laser to user requirements on timing and pulse energy. Established workable specifications with client; agreed on optical and electrical interfaces. Conducted hybrid digital and analog design. Tested prototypes; reported intermediate results to client; delivered final instrument. Project duration: 10 weeks. Cost including hardware: $12,500.
- Instructional Lab Design. Established learning goals with client. Selected appropriate hardware given safety, budget and usability constraints. Prototyped and refined experimental design. Produced instructional videos; wrote student and instructor manuals, including experimental setup, troubleshooting and maintenance guidelines; provided in-person support during installation. Project duration: 3 weeks. Cost excluding hardware: $6000.
